After several months of “due diligence”, Goodco Mechanical has officially acquired the assets of Bovard, Inc. of Altoona.  This deal had started with a phone conversation with Jim Bovard in early January, an initial sit-down in mid-January, an offer in early March and a closing on May 31st.  What a whirlwind for everyone involved.  The staff at Goodco, the employees at Bovard who were getting a new owner and Jim Bovard who was turning over the reigns of his organization that had been in the family for 57 years all went above and beyond in helping make this deal a reality.

So, what does this mean for Bovard’s customers?  Hopefully, they will see a lot of the same folks and the same type of fabulous customer service they have grown accustomed to over the past 5 decades.  With the resources of Goodco, we hope to be able to increase the reach and scope by adding more commercial business, plumbing services and other value-added features.  You’ll see a slight change in our logo going forward but we will be keeping the Bovard name and many of their existing systems in place.  Jim Bovard will assist in the transition through this summer and his brother Charlie will remain as well as the other employees to help keep things flowing smoothly.  Mike Lynn, Residential General Manager for Goodco will be overseeing the office and helping Jim with residential sales.

As with any merger, there have been challenges but with the support of Jim, Charlie, and their Office Manager Heidi Fogle, we have worked through most of them without a major hitch.  I sincerely thank Jim Bovard and his wife Sue for the way they worked with me in bringing this deal to a close.  They are great people with amazing character and integrity.  Jim has set the “ownership bar” very high and I’ll do my best to honor his legacy at Bovard Heating & Cooling.
